Largest Chiropractic Event Held Las Vegas

Last week, around 5,300 people attended the largest chiropractic event hosted by Parker Seminars. The seminar looked at challenges, progress and new developments in the chiropractic community.

January 24, 2012 — Each year DCs and CAs from around the globe travel to Las Vegas for the largest chiropractic seminar in the world — Parker Seminars Las Vegas.

This past week, more than 5,300 Parker Seminar attendees flocked to the fresh and exciting line-up of courses designed to improve chiropractors, chiropractic assistants, and chiropractic students.

The seminar included innovative developmental tracks that provided guidance through specific challenges and promoted progress based on the length of time the attendee has been in the chiropractic profession.

Courses ranged from topics on “Positioning Yourself as a Community Expert” to improving your patient centered care delivery, and living the chiropractic philosophy lifestyle.  In addition, business topics were offered including “What Every Chiropractor Needs to Know about Asset Protection, Tax Reduction, and Estate Planning”.

“Attending Parker Seminars as a doctor of chiropractic for the first time has been truly awakening,” said Dr. Lee R. Hardin. “I came here with high expectations and I’m leaving with every one of them met. I also came here with the title of doctor of chiropractic and am leaving as a true chiropractor, empowered to teach chiropractic.”

Chiropractors Offer Snow-shoveling Tips

In areas that receive a lot of snowfall, people often get back pain from shoveling snow improperly. In order to reduce the risk of injury, chiropractors recommend practicing good shoveling techniques this winter.

While Nassau County has been mostly devoid of snowfall this winter, temperatures have dropped of late, leading weather-savvy residents to believe that the first snowfall of 2012 may be coming sooner rather than later.

And when that day comes, South Shore residents will be left with the grueling task of shoveling snow off their stoops, sidewalks and driveways. Determined to finish the task as quickly as possible, many people ignore proper shoveling techniques, leading to muscle strain and back pain. Fortunately, local chiropractors are offering tips on how to avoid discomfort while shoveling snow.

Richard Seibert, a Merrick chiropractor with a practice on Merrick Avenue, said that while most individuals tend to exercise their extremities, such as arms and legs, on a regular basis, they might forget to exercise their cores, especially their backs, which is the part of the body that becomes most affected while shoveling snow.

“So when you go to call on [little-used muscle groups], they may not be there to serve you,” said Seibert. “What happens is the vertebrae sub-block, they pinch nerve roots, can compress discs, and that leads to really painful low-back conditions.”
